In this section, combine ‘education’ (where you studied ) and ‘qualifications’ (the degree you obtained), rather than separating them out. It is important to list your academic qualifications in reverse chronological order, that is, starting with the current or most recent qualification and then working chronologically backwards. You do not need to list your pre-university education such as A-levels or GCSEs.

Include the start and end date of each degree. For example:

2007-2010 The University of Manchester

PhD History

It is helpful to add:

  • Academic distinctions, such as a first-class degree, or distinction at Masters level;
  • Title(s) of your dissertation(s);
  • Whether you were funded, eg by a research council
  • Names of supervisors and examiners. If you have additional professional qualifications, list them separately from your educational qualifications.
